Project Name: AIBETSU(the middle northern part of Hokkaido)

8 Mining concessions : 26km2, 100% share

Target minerals : gold, silver

Geology and Ore Deposit : The geology of this area consists of pre-Tertiary basement and, volcanic rocks and sedimentary rocks of Neogene to Quaternary period. There are many gold and silver bearing quartz veins and mercury deposits of vein type and disseminated type in the area. The Konomai gold mine that had produced 73 tons of gold is the most famous ore deposit in this mineral province.

Exploration activities :In this area MMAJ has done geological, geochemical and IP surveys. Nittetsu accomplished additional geochemical survey in the field.
[1998] The gold and gold related elements' anomalies were confirmed by stream sediment geochemical survey that MMAJ conducted within a wide area.
[
1999] Geological and rock geochemical surveys were conducted in the area of 200km2 including Nittetsu mining concession. As a result, the alteration zones that mainly consist of mixed-layer clay mineral, and gold and mercury anomalies were confirmed to the northeastern area of old Tokusei gold mine.
[
2000] Soil and rock geochemical surveys (4km2, 558 samples) were conducted to grasp the geochemical anomalies. Also Nittetsu accomplished more detailed geochemical survey to complement the data. At the same time, IP geophysical survey (Length of Survey Line: 21km) was conducted to grasp the alteration zones and silicified zones. As a result, a high resistivity anomaly was found to extend from under the old Tokusei gold mine to the northeastern area and a gold and a mercury anomalies at the higher level were recognized. Moreover, drilling survey (1 hole: 700m with electrical well logging) was conducted to discover mineral occurrences in the lower level of the old Tokusei gold mine. But there were few geochemical anomalies at that depth.
[2001] drilling survey (2 holes: 1,100m) was conducted in the northeastern area of old Tokusei gold mine. As a result, a gold bearing quartz vein of about 1m wide that contains 69 g/t Au, 263 g/t Ag was discovered. Moreover, soil geochemical survey (172 samples) and IP geophysical survey (Length of Survey Line: 8km) was conducted, and a high resistivity and gold and mercury anomalies were confirmed in the southern part of our concessions.

Future plan: We must confirm the continuity of gold bearing quartz veins having a high grade parts and the existence of the similar parallel veins
