Project Name: SAPPORO-N
8 Exploration concessions: 50km2, 100% share
Target minerals: Cu, Au
Geology and Ore Deposit: The concessions are located in the vicinity of the Quebrada Blanca and Colahuasi mine district in the late Eocene to Oligocene porphyry copper belt. The Geology of the concession consists mainly of sedimentary rocks (alternations of mudstone and sandstone, and their hornfels) and granodioritic to dioritic holocrystalline rocks and porphyry.
In the eastern part of the concessions, the sedimentary rocks are moderately
to strongly silicified and are accompanied with mineralized hydrothermal
breccia (quartz + actinolite ± feldspar). Pseudomorphs of pyrite and limonitic
gossan are partly recognized. The hydrothermal breccia has various metal
content ranging barren to ore grade: the highest analyses reach >1.0
% Cu, 1000 ppb Au, 200 ppm Mo.
In the remaining part of the concessions, numerous occurrences of Cu oxides
and sulfides (malachite, chrysocolla, chalcocite, bornite) were found mainly
from sandstone intercalations. Bulk-rock Cu content of mineralized sandstone
ranges up to 15 %.
Exploration activities:
[2000-2001] Satellite image analysis using JERS-1 and ASTER data.
[2002] Preliminary geological and geochemical surveys (10 km2).
[2003] Detailed geological and geochemical surveys (40 km2).

Future plan(2003): Additional geological and geochemical surveys are planned in order to
extract prospective areas for RC drilling.
